I can’t even properly describe how much I appreciate this post. I’m glad you’re in a better place now and I hope you feel better still, and I’m so grateful to you for sharing this extremely relatable piece. 🫶
This is so brave of you to post. I want you to know you're not alone in any of this. The instagram versus reality of it all makes it seem like we all handle what we're doing with ease... when we aren't.💜
Proud of you for sharing this, which will undoubtedly help others going through something similar. Proud to call you a friend and can’t wait to celebrate The Enigma Challenge on August 11. ❤️❤️
Such a thoughtful post, Sierra. As your friend, and as a book publicist who's seen how emotionally demanding publishing can be, I really felt this. I know how hard this has been for you, and I also know you're far from alone. There are so many people in your corner, cheering you on and ready to hold your hand (or hand-held fan!) whenever you need it. Thank you for sharing this with such honesty and vulnerability. I have no doubt your words will make others feel a little less alone.
What an incredible post, my friend. I am so SO impressed by how you pushed through your anxiety over this past year. It's amazing that you set those goals for yourself and met them. You are an INSPIRATION!!! Thank you for sharing your journey.
Also, it's easy for me to tell you not to worry about your launch, but you know what? You've already conquered so much in the past year, there's nothing about this launch that matters more than the journey you're taking to get yourself there. And I feel like everything I've ever read about these things suggests that they aren't crucial to the success of your book anyway. It's a wonderful event, and it matters because it feels like a beginning, but that's what it is -- a beginning! You'll be great there, I just know it! But the stakes aren't high because what matters is that your book will be out in the world and you'll have so many moments to interact with readers, even from the comfort of home.
I am SO looking forward to reading The Enigma Challenge!! And cheering you on way beyond the book launch!! Sending you loads of hugs. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ll try. How’s the weather in SF? Wait! Don’t tell me. 😂 We’re hoping to get away to Monterrey before the month is over, before my teacher wife has to get back in that class. Hopefully. Cheers, new friend.
This is so great—thank you for sharing. And I truly believe we don't have to (in fact, shouldn't) do "all the things" for every book we put into the world.
Thanks Camille. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on the not doing all the things for a book launch. We get so caught up in launches that it’s hard to see that it’s a long tail, not a short burst.
Thank you for sharing this, and I’m sending good thoughts for your launch. When my debut was published ten years ago, it kicked off the worst anxiety episode of my life so far. Summer is always worse for me, and right now I’m out of contract and on sub, so I KNOW I’m in the Disliked Authors bin, lol. I’m hoping that making a transition to self-publishing will eventually relieve some of these feelings, though of course anything can trigger anxiety.
I’m so sorry. But I’m glad you’re on sub again (it’s better than having your agent go “nope” to the ms right?). Thanks for the good wishes, right back at you.
Thank you. I relate completely.
❤️❤️❤️

Thank you much, Diana. I have good days and bad, currently good, and I appreciate the support so, so much. 🥹❤️
I 1000% agree. I went through something similarly life altering just a few years ago and came out feeling the same way. You worded it beautifully!!

Thank you so much, Lily. I really appreciate that. You’re absolutely right that social media makes it worse.
This is such an important post. Thank you for being vulnerable with all of us 💓💓
Thank you my friend ❤️

Thank you my beautiful friend 🥹❤️
And now you have a cup of coffee my friend 🩷 So proud of you and proud to know you!
You too ❤️
The comparison crashout at the end is so valid 😅

Thanks Diane ❤️ I must admit I haven’t quite pushed through it but I’m better, and I’ll take it.
Absolutely. Wishing you continued success as you continue to make your way through it. xox
Love you dear one <3 you are brave and good!
As are you ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing this, Sierra. Anxiety is such a liar, but such a convincing one. I'll be there cheering you on. 🩷
Appreciate you,Mara! ❤️
Cheering you on, Sierra. We’re in the valley near Fresno. Close enough to maybe turn up for one of those in person events. Who knows? 😊
Thank you! Stay cool out there

Yeah it’s freezing cold here in the mornings so bring sweaters to Monterey! 🥶 😂
Thanks! My wife took some to Ireland last month and never got to wear them because it was warmer than we expected.
Wow!! Such an important post, Sierra. I had a lot of ‘me too’ moments! Thank you for being honest and sharing the vulnerability.
